How do you honor a woman who touched the lives of many?
How do you uphold her legacy?
How do you keep her memory alive inspite of her physical absence?
This woman believed that poverty should be a thing of the past,
She believed justice and peace is for all,
She fought for the youth and believed it is our responsibility to secure their future today.
She believed a woman should have opportunities to "grow" and "be" without rejecting her gender.
She understood that religion should not divide us but rather bring us together for the common good.
She asked the question "where are the politician saints?" because Good governance was close to her heart.
She wrote fervently, spoke from the depths of her heart, stood up for what she believed.
She worked with all her strength, lived to the fullest and left this world triumphantly!
This is the life of Kathryn Hauwa Hoomkwap.
Join us in celebrating her life and upholding her legacy.
POVERTY AND THE FAMILY IN THE THIRD WORLD
The family remains the basic unit of society in the world today. In its modern meaning, the family is that social unit comprising a man, his wife and their children. In most sub-Saharan African countries, the extended family, which is a more inclusive definition of the family, includes uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents and other distant relations. This paper has deliberately chosen to make the family its center-piece for a number of reasons.
