Kekuut Hoomkwap

Kekuut is the first child of Kathryn Hauwa Hoomkwap. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Microelectronics from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester NY. She is currently a Product Development Engineer at Intel Corporation in Hudson MA.

Although Kekuut has invested the major part of her educational pursuits in the physical sciences, she has always had a burning desire to make a difference in the lives of others who are less fortunate then her. At different phases in her life, she looked for opportunities to do so, using her time to volunteer at soup kitchens, retirement homes, and tutor minority students. Kekuut was one of the founding members of the Organization of African Students at Rochester Institute of Technology where she found ways to educate the school community about the African continent. Recently, Kekuut joined FACE Africa, a Cambridge-based nonprofit to use her technical skills to help bridge the technological divide between developed countries and Africa.

To continue her mother’s work and uphold her legacy, Kekuut and her fellow board of trustees birthed the idea of the KHH foundation. They knew Mrs. Hoomkwap’s work was important and would make a difference to the development of Nigeria and Africa as a whole and recognized that the only way to keep her memory alive was to continue her work.

Kekuut’s goal is to be true to her mother’s passion and she hopes to accomplish this by contributing to the eradication of poverty, and finding ways to create opportunities for the less privileged. Kekuut will bring her passion for Africa, her background in technology, and her desire to help the less privileged to the board of KHH foundation.
